Written and recorded during a period of extended home domestication, “Golden Age” -- the 2nd album from Manila-based indie rock band Olympia Maru -- serves up fuzzy, ‘gazey psychedelic dad rock contemplating themes of mid-30’s adulthood and raising offspring. The new record is a reflection of this particular life stage, which has been part of the human experience for thousands of years. Heard through reverb-drenched sonics, it is a reality that is both visceral and surreal, equally rewarding as it is challenging wherein one suddenly questions self-worth and reasons for being.
